They call it order. We call it occupation.

Federal troops on the National Mall. Fences around buildings paid for by the residents who weren't allowed to vote on the deployment. ICE expanded into the District. The Marines staged at a base ten miles from the Capitol. The word the administration used was liberation. The shirt is the answer.

THE STORY

In summer and fall 2025, the President federalized the DC National Guard, deployed it onto the streets of the capital, and invited the Marines in for an exercise. Eight-foot fencing went up around the White House, the Capitol grounds, and federal courthouses. ICE operations expanded. DC's mayor lost authority over the local police for thirty days under the Home Rule Act. DC residents — who pay federal taxes and get no senator — watched their own capital be turned into a permission slip.

THE RECEIPT

A towering fence. A motionless line of troops. Raised fists in the foreground. At the top, in bold stencil: THIS IS NOT LIBERATION. The design is what occupation looks like from the ground, photographed by the people who live in the city. The fists are what every occupation has eventually been answered with.

WHY THIS MATTERS

When troops come for a city's own citizens and the press calls it order, the people inside the fence become the threat by default. The shirt refuses the word and refuses the framing. Statehood for DC is a sentence. Liberation is the lie.
